West Midlands Genomic Medicine Centre
One of 13 centres across England that led the way in delivering the 100,000 Genomes Project - paving the way for personalised medicine.
100,000 Genomics Project
The aim of the 100,000 Genomes Project was to create a new genomic medicine service for the NHS – moving towards more personalised medicine and transforming the way people are cared for.
Taking part
The West Midlands Genomic Medicine Centre recruited thousands of patients with certain inherited rare diseases and some common cancers to take part in the 100,000 Genomes Project.
Education
An education programme has been established to support the delivery of the 100,000 Genomes Project and embed genomics knowledge throughout all NHS professional groups. This programme continues as genomics moves into routine care.
