Diagnostic Services Accreditation Lead

Debra Balderson is a state registered clinical scientist. She received her BSC Eng (Hons) from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London and DPhil from the University of York before moving to Birmingham. A 15 year career as a healthcare scientist followed, before she became the Healthcare Science Education Lead at University Hospitals Birmingham.

She is currently leading on whole Trust Physiological and Imaging Services UKAS Accreditation for UHB. As the GMC lead organisation this is a contractual requirement, is a key objective of CCGs and specialised commissioners. It has also been endorsed by NHS England, the Care Quality Commision (CQC) and the Chief Scientific Officer, Sue Hill.

The accreditation model will be cascaded to all 17 local delivery partners in the West Midlands Genomic Medicine Centre.
